Standing For Heaven on Earth IS the Rebellion of Our TimeI am not a rebel by nature. Far from it! Iβve always loved following the rules. I donβt like to whisper in church; I always use my turning signal even if no one is around for miles, and I love a good, orderly line. More than that, Iβve sought to represent institutions and uphold traditions that I believed existed for the purpose of group harmony. Itβs why you would find me sitting in the front row of the classroom or standing on the stage delivering commencement addresses for undergraduate and graduate ceremonies.

But something happened in 2020. I suddenly realized that the people and institutions I had grown up trusting - and sometimes representing - did not share my core values of truth and wisdom. Suddenly, I had no choice but to rebel. I did not realize until learning more about being an Empath that I had been upholding a narcissistic system (whether in companies, churches, or communities), and now was my moment of rebellion. Rebel, I did.

I did not rebel by taking to the streets and raging at the world, but what I did do was start to focus on how I was being and where I was placing my energy. I observed how leaders in power used empathy as a weapon while disconnecting from the deeper, subtler truths of human connection and manipulating the people out of a desire for fear-based control rather than from a place of wisdom, prudence, and love.

My Empath heart ached during this period, and I did what I could with the tools that I had at the time to counterbalance what I was observing by beginning to build spaces for heart-centered leaders to come together and share their stories in books.
