You never know how your words will impact others!
When we published The Diversity in Humanity back in April 2023, I knew that our message was ahead of its time.
After all, we were entering into a conversation where the word diversity had become a loaded term in American corporate culture. Worse still, we were witnessing how the current culture sought to blame, shame, and silence individuals who genuinely wanted to engage with one another.
It almost seemed silly to think that we could offer a new message, a new vision for creating harmony in organizations (starting with harmony within).
But we did just that.
Eleven of us came together to share our deeply personal stories. We put our hearts and reputations on the line. And we did so knowing that our messages could be perceived as naive, idealistic, or even Pollyana-ish.
We did so anyway.
Maybe we ruffled some feathers. And that's OK.
Maybe we got people to soften their hearts. And that's wonderful.
Maybe all we did was signal to the world that there ARE people willing to engage, to hold space, to transcend the victim/aggressor/savior dynamic, and to stand for love as the highest value.
